Sure, why not? I think that would be a lovely gesture. And I am sure that she would appreciate your consideration. To many people, their pets are family members. And, after 15 years of companionship with her cat, I am sure she feels like she lost a family member. You are sweet to think of her because of losing her pet - go for it and bless you.

A pet is like a member of the family. A card would be a nice gesture

I think that would be a very nice gesture. I don't see why not, people treat their pets as one of the family and you would send a card if it was a person in her family that died.

urm a new cat or a new card? if you meant a new cat then no. not yet at least. let her settle down first..its 'something' like a break up..you need some time to overcome the situation first then only you can get back on your own two feet to accept another one. if you meant a card =p just make it a short one

My cat of 16 years died a while back. I was embarrassed about how devastated I felt until my friends here at work gave me cards, flowers and etc. I will never forget their support. It meant the world to me that someone understood. Support her!

The loss of a pet can be devastating. I always appreciated getting a nice card and even flowers. Try printing the poem "Rainbow Bridge" for your MIL. That helped me tremendously and I've passed it along to many others over the years.

I say yes!
To some people pets are like their child, so letting them know that you understand that it's hard for them to lose a pet that they loved will mean a lot to them.
Flowers can't hurt either.
