It's bad for your hair if you keep straightenign it. The longer you do that, the more your hair will be dry and frizzled.

Are you getting it professionally straightened? like in a salon.. in this case it is about as damaging as a perm

If you are using a straightener, then it is about as damaging as using a curling iron or blow drying your hair. Just make sure you buy a good one that is hot enough to do the job. If you have to keep running it through your hair, it is more damaging.

straightening your hair is initially bad for it and will eventually make it frail and damamged.

although there are ways round straightening your hair too often, The best way to keep your hair straight is too use a shampoo that is for straight hair (keeps the frizz at bay) also by useing a conditioner (leave in works better) then followed by useing a heat protection spray (best things ever) also blow drying your hair straight will help keep it straight.

then you can use your striaghteners at a relativly low heat 150 max

these methods should help proctect you hair but also only straightening it a max of twice a week helps i tend to wear my hair up most of the week and only straighten it once or twice to help keep my hair healthy

If it was an occasional thing it's OK. But if done daily it will dry it out and cause split ends.....go to a salon and have them do it the first time and they can recommend products to use that will help protect it. OR just let the salon chemically straighten it. Depends on your hair type too.

Doing anything to your hair with chemical or heat will damage it, but as long as you condition regularly, I think it would be fine. I straighten my hair every day and my hair dresser said I have the healthiest hair he has seen.

u know what will happen as time goes by... Your front hair will start to drop n you will become bald.... Totally you will be a laughing stock by your friends.... At the age of 12 i don't think hair straightning is very important... Start it but after a few years maybe at the age of 16..... but don't do it too often because you have a long way to go..............

Straighting your hair is going to damage it no mater how old you are. Hot oil treatments can some what repair your hair so just go for them about twice a year and you should be OK!

My daughter is 13, and likes to straighten hers also. We don't let her do it often, because of heat damage, but once a week or so won't hurt too much. Use a good conditioner.

straightening your hair may leave it smoother and straighter in the short run, but over time, you will find that your hair becomes frizzy and dry. I wouldn't recommend straightening your hair as it obviously will cause damage to your hair.

Um . . . isn't hair roots what matter, like whatever you do to your hair above the roots is okay as it will grow back? Otherwise getting a hair cut would be bad for your hair and would make you bald. Oh and i heard too that if bats get caught in little girls hair her hair falls out too . . . gosh . . . eek . . . run away
