I brought my little beagle to the vet last night after a concerning episode of massive amounts of urine- accidents. I was wondering if there are any Canadians out there who are currently treating a dog for diabetes insipidus. I live in Montreal- West Island. However, any Canadian answer will do. I want to know how much it will be to make sure my little girl is healthy- I like to be prepared.

High blood levels of glucose can cause several problems, including frequent urination, excessive thirst, hunger, fatigue, weight loss, and blurry vision. However, because type 2 diabetes develops slowly, some people with high blood sugar experience no symptoms at all. How to treat diabetes naturally https://tr.im/ZPtKr

Symptoms of type 1 diabetes:

Increased thirst
Increased urination
Weight loss in spite of increased appetite
Fatigue
Nausea
Vomiting

Patients with type 1 diabetes usually develop symptoms over a short period of time, and the condition is often diagnosed in an emergency setting.

Symptoms of type 2 diabetes:

Increased thirst
Increased urination
Increased appetite
Fatigue
Blurred vision
Slow-healing infections
Impotence in men

If you think you have diabetes i think you should have a checkup and speak with your doctor just in case.

Diabetes Insipidus is a disorder of ADH. ADH is a hormone that helps maintain the proper electrolyte/water balance by telling the kidneys to hold onto water. In DI, ADH is either not produced or not effective. The ultimate effect of this would be severe dehydration, not to mention the interference on lifestyle of having to run to the bathroom every hour or so. If your son does have it, the treatment (assuming it is a production problem) is simply replacement of the hormone, which is available as a nasal spray. I definitely reccommend having the test and getting treated. I do know a person with this, and she leads a completely normal lifestyle, with a medicine that is 1-2x daily.

Diabetes is usually treated through a combination of diet (low sugar), exercise and medications/insulin. Milder cases can be controlled with just diet an/or exercise while more severe cases require meds or insulin as well.
