With the holidays approaching I thought it might be fun and beneficial to start up a Biggest Loser Club where people are rewarded prizes for losing weight during the holidays. I've never done this before does anyone have suggestions on how to keep it fair. We have 300+ women wanting to join as well as women who weigh under 200. It'd be unfair to do it by pounds because larger women tend to lose weight faster. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hmmm....that is a little tricky, seeing how a woman of 300 pounds would have the opportunity to lose possibly 100 pounds or more, while a woman of 200 pounds may only be able to or need to lose 20,30, 50 pounds.....The show goes by percentages....so if you are all good with math you could do it by percentage which would be fair to everyone...becfause if you lose 5% of your weight and the lady who is 300 pounds loses 5% of her weight...she may have lost more pounds, but the percentage is the same and so the system is fair....Really, I don't know how else to do it. Besides making everyone strut their stuff for everyone to "judge" and then decide the winner based on how much their physical body has changed in looks compared to when you all started.....Ya know, just for fun and the feeling of helping others, you could all bring in your old clothes that will no longer fit once you start losing and you can all donate them to Goodwill or something in your area. That way you are helping others and also getting rid of anything you could possibly think about fitting back into. Once the weight is gone....keep it off!! I hope you find some way to do this fairly...it's a great motivator for all of you. Best of luck!!

We have one at work, and it is really hard to be fair. We weigh in weekly and We put in a dollar any time we gain anything. Then at the end, whoever reached their goal is supposed to win. No one ever reached their goal, so we just took the money and went out to lunch to applebees which has weight watcher meals. A better way might be to set a goal that is a percentage of body weight instead of a weight. e.g goal to lose 5% of total body weight vs. lose 10 lbs.

You can't set a goal - it's too easy to meet a goal - the best way to do it is to either do it by a % overall.. OR separate everyone into a weight class 200, 175, 150 whatever and do total weight loss by pounds in those groups...

Put out a survey to your co-workers and agree to go with the best solution...

Wouldn't percentage of beginning weight, be a good method.

Award prizes based on the percentage lost.
