I'm sure some people might look at you differently but society has changed a lot over the years. More and more people are having bi-racial children such as black/white, mexican/white, asian/black..and so on. I wouldnt let other people affect your decision to have a bi-racial child. your the one with the kid, not them. best of luck

Nobody is looking at you funny. You're just being paranoid. I'm answering the answerers moreso than the asker. Who cares if people look at you differently? What can they do for you? I am a black woman and when I see a "white gal with a black man" or a white girl or women with a mixed race child, I think it's a beautiful thing. Anyone who doesn't is racist and just like I as a black woman have to deal with racism, so will people who have the fruits of colorblind love. Ignore the ignorance or disagreement. You can't fight every battle in life, especially the ones that stem from hatred. Live and let live. Gheesh.

Here in the Gambia, people love to see a white woman with a Gambian man, especially if they have a child. Sharing black and white blood. The child is generally viewed as lucky as s/he will get a good education. Most of them attend private schools.

People looking at the woman different? It depends on the people involved. Most of the time, the immediate family will love it a lot, but the general public... the assumption is that the woman married the man for love, but the man is only marrying her because she is white. Observations here in the Gambia, West Africa, is that marriages between white women and black men generally last a long time, but white men and black women, their marriages don't last long.

Devout Muslims past a certain age do not like it if a white woman has a baby by a black man. They prefer it if the marriage is arranged.

However, having said that many white women have babies by black men,and this is not frowned upon. Quite the opposite.

People who react strangely to white women having babies by black men should be ignored, as they are prejudiced.

This day and age it really depends on where you live and if your the only couple doing it. Some women hate because they think that's there man or if he looks really good some people will try to break you up or try to get with your man. I don't judge by race and never will I have dated various numbers of races and not matter what there will always be the hatters. But mixed babies usually have beautiful skin. You can't help who you love race doesn't matter it's just a color. If you love that person go for it don't let anything or anyone stop you.

Sincerely yours,
Laurie

yes i think people do look at you different. But to hell with them. In a study i saw recently i was surprised to see that children from mixed race parents are not really excepted on either side. Not quite white, not quite black. Also white mums being sad that their children dont look like them. If two people love each other and decide to have children then they shouldnt be looked upon differently

Caucasian women have children with African American men.

Yes, realistically there is a stigma attached and it goes both ways. If you are considering getting involved in that kind of a relationship make sure that you are able to handle the backlash from families and conditional friends. You will find acceptance eventually, somewhere, but for your child it will take a lifetime. They will always be bi-racial, and face being unaccepted for that fact. Try to teach them to be strong and mature about their special heritage. I had a Caucasian friend who had children from a African American man and her four year old asked one day why they call her black and white because she didn't see any polka dots. Whereas my friend thought it was cute I didn't and I explained that the proper description was Caucasian and African American which wouldn't confuse the child. It's color labeling that causes a lot of problems like that. We should use proper ethnic descriptions like with other racial groups.

some people think that the baby would have a worse start in life if it was in a mixed relationship. But in now a days life its a regualar occerance. Just think about Mirah Carry and Nicole RIchy. So i guess now a days even with those racisit people around the child would do just fine. I think that love is color blind and we should be able to fall in love with a black white or purple man if we want. Screw the people that think other wise.

Really if your happy with that person you shouldn't have to worry!
Living in a multicultural age an especially if your in a large city you probabaly wont get much at all, but like everything in life, people are all different.
With a mixed heritage child myself, I have found that I can be quite paronoid about taking my child away on holiday coz i wonder what some people might be like, but only coz i wouldn't want to get in trouble for beating the s-h-i-t out of the racist f-u-c-k-e-r-s!! But remember they will be your child and in this day those sort of people will be in a minority. It does on depend on the area that you live in.

It depends where you live. If you live in London then noone bats an eyelid, in fact you are probably more odd if you don't have a mixed race baby! If you come from a tiny town in Wales people may stare and gossip. Not sure how other countries react although they say you will see more mixed race couples on one day in london than you will see in new york in a year.
