Yes I tend to believe that his prophesies do come true.

The WTC prediction wasn't even a prophecy by Nostradamus. It was made up in an effort to show how easy it was to throw together a jumble of words that eventually, people will find a way to apply to random tragic events. The circulating prophecy has two lines taken from a quatrain actually written by Nostradamus:

Five and forty steps the sky will burn
Fire approaching the large new city
Instantly a great thin flame will leap
When someone will want to test the Normans.

This is insanely vague. New York, other than the similarties in name, is not a new city. Five and forty steps can be applied to anything if we set our minds to it (besides, NY isn't at the 45° latitude). Normans do not equate Americans.

Also, his famous book of "prophecies" may not have been actual prophecies. The title was originally "Les Propheties de M. Michel Nostradamus" which could be translated as The Prophecies of Nostradamus or the Prophecies -by- Nostradamus. Since he denied being a so-called "prophet" I would believe the latter.

As for those other predictions, I'd like to see a link.

Nostradamus lived in about 1505. He had the rare talent to see the future. But this was an era where soothsayers were looked down upon and were even murdered. That is why he wrote down his predictions in an indirect way.

Sometime ago about 1989 I saw a Video produced by an Australian company on these predictions. According to it the big earthquake in San Francisco was predicted by him. Of course I saw this years before the 9/11 incident. But this video says that the next prediction is that the new city in America will be attacked by a mad man from the Middle East with fire balls sent from the sky - and it said that the new city should be New York. According to what was happening at that time I really thought that this man should be Saddam Hussain. It mentioned the number of fire balls that will come and gave the number that will really hit the new city. I forget the exact figures mentioned.

It was also predicted that the person who desecrated his grave will die by a bullet. During a civil war a soldier who had heard of this story, after having had too much liquor had decided to dig his grave, as predicted he had been hit by a stray bullet. According to this video there was much more than the soldier being hit by the bullet - there was a plaque round the neck of the skeleton of Nostradmus setting out the date of that day that his corpse was dug.

The most scary part is the next prediction. According to it the Middle East will be flattened and as a result the Pope will flee Rome. According to what is happening now I hope this will not become true.

Nostradamus never anticipated something properly and he would possibly no longer have meant to. this is possible his verses talked approximately then modern events or issues in his recent previous. One verse "predicts" the dying of a French king in a jousting accident, yet that surpassed off some 6 years formerly Nostradamus died. Ten years in the past human beings have been quoting him as predicting the top of the international in 2000. Yeah, appropriate.

No I do not believe that.He was a fascinating man and healer,
however , His words have been twisted to suit us.Histor was
a river, never said N.Y. said the new city.He said the Antichrist
would wear a blue turban. If anyone is going to bring about W.W.111,it is clearly No, Korea. A nuke and a asteroid would have same effect.

His 'prophecies' are so generalized that we can make almost anything out of them. Perhaps some have come true, but many have not.

Are you also aware that back aways when Pearl Harbor was attacked they used that same quatrain about the New City being attacked to show it was true? And btw, Iraq didn't strike first, it was terrorists who did.

In order for me to call what he wrote a "prophecy", he'd first have to be a prophet. For me to call him a prophet, he'd have to be right 100% of the time and he wasn't. A lot of what he said never came to pass.

How soon we forget that the old physician also predicted:

In 1999 the Great Terror will come from the Sky...

Yawn! I put no stock in his quatrains; they are so vague they can be made to fit any event. Nostradamus was a seer, not a prophet and like the guy who wrote "The DaVinci Code," what he published was to make money.

The biggest lot of tripe ever-the man spoke in indecipherable riddles that could have a hundred different meanings. Even the prophecies in the bible seem more credible to me than those of Nostradamus.

The centuries (predictions) of Nostradamus have managed to intrigue generations of people.
A careful reading of his writings will reveal many of his predictions have not yet been realised.
However, rest assured, according to him, the world is safe for another 1800 years.

I especially like his prophecy that the world would end 6 years ago. Goes to show how good he was. "A new city will be attacked" wow that just couldn't be any random event at any city could it?

Yes many of his prophecies have come true. In fact he has deliberately written them in a coded language so that people do not panic.

What did he say about war between Christians & Muslims?
