foolishness, to be precise.

Some people live their life based on what their religion tells them. So it isn't a question of a religion being better than others, its about an individual being right. A Jewish philosopher once said that the only people who can truly know god are prophets and philosophers, the rest are only worshiping an extension of themselves. So when someone thinks their religion is better than others, it means he/she still does not understand the spirituality of their religion. They are fighting for their point of view.

If someone believes that cannibalism is ok, and I dont, then my belief is better. If someone believes child rape is ok, and I don't, then my belief is better. If someone thinks stealing is ok, and I don't, then my belief is better. How do I know my beliefs are better? I don't like to be eaten; I would not have liked to be raped as a child; I don't like it when people steal things from me. Why do I not like those behaviors? Is it nature or nurture? My nurture (what I have learned, and not what is innately in me) has served me well for my lifetime. By having beliefs "better than others" as you crudely state, I have a more fulfilling life, and enable and enoble those around me to also have more fulfilling lives. Great question.

Its natural human psychology to think ''Mine'' is better than ''Yours'', just because you were born into it or grew up with it.Defence mechanism also comes in here to blurr their vision further. It applies to everything not only to beliefs of all small- minded people.
But an intelligent & open mind refutes the wrong & adopts the right .That too only after it finds convincing facts to believe so after proper analysis.

Why is it called "beliefs" if you do not believe in it? Once you feel others are better than yours, you will stop believing. Since you BEELEEEVE then you think this is the right one. I just hope that we all stay away from attacking others. Every man is free to believe what he likes. He will be judged not me.

My beliefs aren't so much as beliefs but ideas and are subject to change. I am open to what ever God has to show me, and seen's how no religion seems to have nailed it yet, I just have faith ~ faith in love and love of God. And faith and unconditional love is the way to God not religion.

would say " intolerance " would be a big factor as there are those who seem to have the idea that theirs is the only way and since theirs is the only way they always know what is right for everyone else. in spite of the fact there are many different paths and ways to arrive at the same destination. what works for you may not work for me.

They wouldn't be very good beliefs if a person didn't think they were right. Who believes in something that they think is wrong. It's not that they think their beliefs are better, they believe they are right.

Jesus Christ is Truth - that is better. People want to know the Truth and there it is staring them in the face. I don't I'm better than anyone - just forgiven by Jesus. BUT I will say that knowing Jesus is better than any "religion" that I know.

It has to do with a supreme truth. IF you believe in an absolute truth you will undoutebly believe in an absolute wrong. For christians contradictions to what they know to be truth are wrong or ...less than.
