Although i am Christian, and believe in Jesus, i do have much respect for your beliefs and opinions. I think some in my religion must understand that there are people out there just like us: No matter what you say, they will still follow what they believe. If a Christian wants to persuade someone to follow their beliefs, they should only do so if that person is WILLING to listen. I dont think Jesus Christ exhibited the "YOUR GOING TO HELL" attitude that some of the followers have. The same goes for Atheists too. Dont force opinions on someone that doesnt want to hear them.

I agree, and don't usually reveal my atheistic views to anyone I meet. However, this forum is specifically here for anyone to ask questions about any religion they like. We are not supposed to be mean to eachother, but it happens sometimes. I don't care if any religious people tell me I'm going to hell. I know they think that already without haveing to say a word to them. So, when I come in here and speak my mind, if it offends someone it doesn't really bother me. Everyone is different. You can say something completely harmless and someone somewhere is going to have a problem with it. I respect your beliefs, and it is refreshing to see a christian who seems to respect my lack of belief in a supreme being. Have a nice day.

I don't force my opinions on you. I simply defend my right to believe in what I choose to and not have others push their beliefs on me. You can believe in what you want and I'll do the same.
Just a little side note: don't your bible also say something about if they don't want to hear it then move on? I don't recall anywhere in the bible it saying his followers have the right to judge others nor the power to send them to "hell". So I guess they aren't really what you call a "good christian" after all.
I tell people all the time on here they can believe in what they want just let me do the same. If they don't listen and start insulting me then I loose any respect I had for them and I do get a bit rude with some of them. They deserve it.

I think if you check the four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) you will find that Jesus spoke more about hell than He did about heaven.

Certainly NOT in the sense of taking any pleasure in it; certainly not in trying to "force opinions" on others; probably just warning others of certain future realities. He sent His disciples out, two by two, into the villages around; but told them that if they were rejected (His message was rejected), then they should shake the dust off their feet as they left.

People who come to R&S and show such mistaken ideas ... it seems they are here wanting to know the truth, so they have the opportunity to hear and believe the truth.

But according to your religion and the bible, non-believers will be cast into hell. So although you respect others, your religion does not. So are you doing right by your religion? There are many instances in the bible where god aids in the killing of people and children, and often times he inflicts fear on his people.

"Should you not fear me?" declares the lord. "Should you not tremble in my presence?" (Jeremiah 5:21-23)

So the "your going to hell" attitude does exist within Christianity whether you follow it or not. My point to all this is that religion is arrogant by design.

I don't actually have beliefs or opinions I have disbelief so what is it you imagine you have respect for? I generally respond in kind to Christians only after they have fired the first shot-if they evangelize they will be challenged. Other than that I don't give a flying stuff what they believe.

Sounds like you're a reasonable person willing to discuss things at some level of rationality. You are the type of person whose religious freedom I believe should be protected and the type of person I wouldn't be uncomfortable of befriending.

We are routinely questioned here. I personally usually only respond to questions. I am at times harsh because I get harsh criticism from others and that makes it fair.

If people don't want to read my opinions they don't have to and they really shouldn't be in a public forum.

Well, I agree.

I'm always willing to talk religious ideals and beliefs with people; simple discussion, rather than conversion attempts, has led me further towards religions than anything else--tell me enough to pique my interest, and I start researching.

i feel the same way. the only difference is that i'm an atheist. Funny how, though we may have different beliefs (or lack of belief in my case), our views are the same. I like you. :)
