I start wheezing so bad. Normally I just avoid dogs, or if I am around them, I make sure it is outside where there is plenty of fresh air for me.
I have to spend 3-4 nights at a friend's house this November and she has a dog. She says she will vacuum and clean real well, but I am guessing that I will still have a problem breathing (& sleeping)

Does anyone know what medications are best for pet allergies? Should I try something like Claritin or is Benedryl my best bet? Like I said, I usually take nothing and avoid animals. Anyone suffer like I do? Any suggestions?

See an allergist.

I am very very very allergic to cats and dogs...to the point were they could kill me. And I have both animals!!! Yes, I know, not the smartest move I could make. My allergies affect my eyes and I have open blisters in them because of it. There are allergy shots that you could get, not sure if they are still around. The Benedryl stuff doesn't work for me. Even if your friend cleans super super well, the fur will still be around. My specialist told me that pet hair dander will still stay in a place even if there are no animals for years. Good luck...

Boy that is rough!

Yes, try Claritin or Benedryl. Or see a doctor about something more potent.

Good luck!

Go see your MD.
From what you say it seems like you have asthma. In any case better have some inhalatory bronchodilators and/or steroids handy. Budesonid, formoterol, and such. Needs a prescription though.
