That depends on you what DVD recorder you bought. I'd take a look on the instructions manual. If you already threw awaay (we all do) try to downloaad it from the manufacturer's website.

Yes, Just the same as a normal VCR!

yeah, there are numbers beside the shows in tv magazines and you enter these and the dvd recorder will record the shows
