Some say if you can make it through the first 3 days, you'll manage. It gets easier. I only stopped 1 month ago and I got over it after the first week.

Seriously its the best thing that Ive done, I'm starting to feel less sleepy and more energetic.

I called the quite-line and they say 40 days you'll be fully over it but that's crap in my case, I'm over it.

P.s I smoked about 7-9 smokes a day so if that's close to you well maybe you'll be similar

The craving will subside gradually. Figure about four months until it becomes manageable, maybe a year and a half until you feel entirely normal. You may have some cravings for your entire life. Remember, nicotine is a drug, and even when the withdrawal is over you're going to want a cigarette when you get upset, because your brain will never forget the calming effect. That being said, four cigarettes a day is not that bad if you're younger. If you're of heart attack age (50+), it's enough to up your risk of a heart attack. If you really want the nicotine, you might want to consider a non-tobacco source, such as an e cigarette or the Commit nicotine lozenges. But watch out -- at only 4 cigs a day, some stop smoking products have enough nicotine to make your habit worse than it was.

I've heard that the nicotine is out of your system in around 3 days, it's the action of smoking that you're craving. Stick it out....it will get better.

You never stop craving it. I had a doc that started back smoking after 10 years on the wagon. My Mother in law said that even after being off the smokes for 20 years, she still craves one from time to time. Congrats on your move to quit!

Physically, 3-5 DAYS. That's it.

The rest of the "cravings" is all psychotic, and purely from habit. That's the hardest part.

I took me about a week, then I was fine. But never ever have another one later on. If you do, you might instantly get hooked again(like I did), sort of like an alcoholic. Then you have to deal with the pain of quitting all over again.
