I did atkins' diet and lost 65 pounds in 5.5 months. Its a great diet and lifestyle change. You can take a look at it yourself by going to www.atkinscenter.com. Also walk or do some sort of cardi for an hour a day and that will help.

Fad diets do not work for permanent weight loss. The only thing that works is education about the types of foods you are eating, learning portion control and exercise. We all can find fifteen minutes a day for exercise, even if its only five minutes at a time.
there is no "easy way out". You didn't become overweight and unhealthy overnight and you aren't going to stop overnight. You need to do what is right for your health for yourself and for your loved ones.
When I first started to lose weight I was horribly out of shape, always had "excuses" as to why I could not do what I needed to do for myself. I was pre-diabetic, severely asthmatic and I felt bad all the time. I run my own businesses (2 of them) and I work a lot and I am a single mom... I found the time so can you.
Within three months of eating properly and exercising just a little bit every day I completely turned my life around. I no longer depend on inhalers to breathe. The prediabetic tendencies I was showing are gone. When I started I couldn't walk fast up a flight of stairs without feeling winded or tired....today I can run - yes run I am going to train to run a 5k in the spring with any luck. This has been only a year ago and I will never go back...ever. I only had to lose 40 lbs and have taken off 30 of it with another ten to go. It was the diet and exercise that turned my life around not the number on the scale ;).
I didn't use a gimmicky diet this time. I did this through educating myself and through the support of others for free at a calorie-count website. I hope you will go there and to other places and find the tools, support and encouragement you need to become healthy. I am including some good educational links on the sources. Best of luck

The South Beach diet worked for me. My doctor sold me the book right out of his office. The diet is in three stages. For the first stage it is really strict (no bread, fruit, etc.), but it's only 2 weeks. I stayed on stage 1 for a month and lost 19 pounds. The book has recipes and lists of good foods and bad ones for each stage. The weight loss is supposed to slow after stage one and it did, but even on stage 2 I was losing weight. I got off the diet for personal reasons but am going back on it soon. I am going to the healthclub for a workout today, that will help. I need to lose weight for borderline high cholesterol and the fact that I want to have another baby. I am 5' 3" and 200 pounds. Don't join the SBD website, it costs too much money and all you need is in the book and you can do searches on the internet or put a question on yahoo for recipes later on if you decide to do it. Email me if you have any questions. Good luck!

You'll have time for excercise if you want to lose weight and keep it off. No magic bullets that are effective for long term weight management exist.
If you think that you don't have to change your habits and priorities, stay as you are, you will be heavy again within a year, because food will stay your obsession, and your reward.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glycemic_index
http://www.jillianmichaels.com will show you how to change your habits forever, but first you must consider your weight more than a minor inconvenience.
It must be your main concern. Emoticons don't get it.
Do you?
I am heavy, but losing slowly at age 57, and this time I know that I must change my eating and excercise habits for good, I can't play anymore. I must make it a major concern, my focus, and keep it there, or the habits of a lifetime will return.
They have several times.
The ball is in your court now.
