Actually Big Bird is played by a woman, it is the same woman who plays Bear from Bear in the Big Blue House. She does not have the use of her right arm, if you notice in both characters it is controlled by fishing line.
Not sure if the woman is gay or straight;-)

No, Bert and Ernie fill the homosexual quotient for that show. Big Bird is just a camp heterosexual, a happy go lucky kind of guy. So I guess in a way he is gay, taking it's original definition!

Yeah he is becuase I saw him with shades on and a trench coat leaving a male strip club. I knew it was him becuase the trail of big *** yellow feathers.
