Being fat is a choice. Just like being a drug addict is a choice. Why should society change to accommodate fatties (larger clothes sizes in shops, bigger seats in restaurants etc) when the problems they encounter are entirely of their own accord?

not so long ago it was considered acceptable to scorn people for being disabled, having differently coloured skin, having learning disabilities... thank goodness those days are over. whilst being overweight is slightly different from these examples because there is often an element of choice involved, there can be no justification for the kinds of abuse and difficulties many overweight people encounter on a daily basis. society should change because society bred the rise in obesity so bears some responsibility for at least tolerating and accommodating the results.

Because the fat people are angry because they have tried and failed at losing weight. They then decide that since they can't change, everyone else should. I used to be quite large and adopted this attitude myself. That is until I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. That was my major motivation. I went from 200 pounds to 135 pretty darned quickly and I have had zero blood sugar issues for 4 years so far.
I do not buy this that we should change things just because some people lack willpower. Overweight is one thing, but these people that are 2 and 3 hundred pounds with burritos hanging out of their mouths saying that they have thyroid problems just need to get a grip. I am not saying they need to lose down to whatever, 125 pounds, but they need to see how much stress they put on their heart. I am a nurse and see people in the nursing homes that were obese all of their lives and have to be shot up with a bottle of insulin because they ate all the donuts. Its sad, man...Its not a healthy lifestyle. Sorry if this offends, but I am not going to sugar coat anything for anyone.

I don't think fat people themselves are demanding that society change its attitude. I think that there are so many people now that are overweight that society itself is changing.

I think that being overweight is a choice, yes, but just like a drug addict its something thats just hard to stop once you've started...just like smoking. I'm sure when people started smoking society changed to meet the needs of smokers. Like having cigarette machines in public places. Just because obese people are not that great to look at doesn't mean that they don't contribute to society in meaningful ways and that we shouldn't accommodate them.

have you ever considered that distinctive cultures have distinctive attitudes in this? motives why incest is misguided is by way of the fact if relatives have a infant jointly, there's a great probability the youngster would have illnesses or deformities. the fewer of a bond between the relatives, the fewer probability there is. First cousins dating isn't as undesirable as siblings and there are cultures that evaluate this to be no longer a great deal. There are different cultures that think of it may well be disgusting for even third cousins to this factor. It varies from way of existence to way of existence and you could understand that. in my opinion i does no longer be cool with doing that myself, because of the fact I view cousins as brothers and sisters, yet whilst he and his family members is positive with it and that's criminal, which could be ok.

I think you're being sensationalist. No one has demanded anything. Just as no one wants to be fat. Drug addicts do it because of the high - fat people overeat for a multitute of reasons and if you took a bit of trouble to understand those reasons, maybe we'd all be on the path to understanding each other.

i think someone watched that programme last night on fat people!!

i think being fat does boil down to choice as you can choose to lose weight.
people can tell smokers not to smoke in places, that they stink etc and that its bad for their health, tell a fatty to slim down because they will die and you will be called cruel

im aware that their are conditions out there but they are very rare, and im a bit fat so dont moan at me!! hehe! i could eat less but i happen to fit into clothes i like.

It is easier than losing weight. I am heavy, but know it is unhealthy and unsexy, and am slowly losing pounds.
Americans have been addicted to sugar by soda and fast food franchises. An addicted customer is a dependable customer - caffeine, too.

if you chose to be slim, why should the world make clothes for slim people????

have you ever heard of a matabolism, some people actually cannot help being overweight, thyroid problems, and so forth.

what the hell is your problem anyway - these things you have mentioned will not cost you anything or inconvenience you!

discrimination against fat people is just as bad as racism
