I would like to know if grouting a room for tile must be done all in one day or can it be spread over a couple days? Do I need an epoxy or something for the grout joints between days? Thanks.

It is preferable to do all the grout in one shot because when you mix more grout, there is always a chance of the colour being slightly different if your mix is a bit more or less liquid. The colour difference won't be shocking, but it will likely be noticeable to anyone paying attention to your floor.

Epoxy-based grouts are a better way to go -- although they are a bit more expensive, they are more resilient to staining and certain other damage. However, you won't require anything special for the grout joints between days, if that is the way you decide to tackle your project. Good luck.

Certainly you can by why?

I've installed thousands of sq ft of tile, and personally by the time I get to grouting, I want the job over with.

I just this week finished a large room,,, 15 by 20 and grouted it in one night,,, about 3 hours including the first clean up.

You'll have to take the job in steps anyway to mop up the final residue when the grout is dry.

I'm just curious about why, when you're at the end stage of a job you want it to go one another day,,,at least.

No you don't need anything in the empty spaces where you stopped grouting.

Sealing after the fact is purely personal choice.

Yes it is okay to grout a floor in several sessions, althought he grout will look a different colour, when it dries it will be the same colour. When you seal it you can also do in stages, however it is usually clear so a little hard to remember where you are at.

If you stop in a line you will probably see a slight color change forever. Stagger the line if you must, but be aware you may still see a slight color change.
