My 12 year old daughter has a consistently dirty neck even though she washes daily. I thought at first she was just being lazy and forgetting to wash her neck, but I've scrubbed it clean one day, and within a day or so, it's back to being spotty and dirty. Could this be a fungus or a skin condition of some sort? and how do I treat it if it is?

If it is tinea, it is part of the many skin conditions that are caused by the fungus candida. I did not get mine checked out, because the doctor told me my vitiligo was "age spots", so I figured he would call the dark patches on each side of my esophagus the same thing.

I have been on an anti yeast diet since January, and have noticed substantial fading of the patches.

www.hufa.org the yeast link has some basic info. The library link gets you to info about some books that discuss the problem.

Treatment - either a comprehensive diet plan with yogurt, herbs and spices; or anti-fungal medications from the doctor (if he/she believes it exists).

Could be a tinea (fungus) Try Selsun Blue shampoo, leave it on 10 minutes and wash off. This may help cure it and it is cheaper than a doctor

Sounds like tinea, which is a skin fungus. It's easily curable. Selenium sulfide is the prescription that gets rid of it. So she will have to see the doc.
