If your dog is registered with the AKC, you can order a pedigree for 4 or 5 generations of your dog's family tree for $10 or $12. Go to: https://www.akc.org/store/reports/index.cfm and choose "research pedigree." You will have to set up an AKC store account, and find your dog from his/her AKC name and number in order to request the online report.

If you live in or near NewYork, you can go to the AKC library and do the research yourself for free - a full copy of the studbook is kept in the AKC library. On your dog's AKC registration papers both the sire and dam have a number in parentheses behind their name. This number represents the issue of the stud book in which you will find them listed (i.e. (8/02) would be August of 2002) The stud book listing will give the parents and the parent's stud book issue.

If your dog is a purebred from a breeder, you might find something - I'd speak to the breeder you bought it from. Otherwise, not a hope!
