First, all denominations are catholic regardless of being "Roman" Catholic or Protestant. Catholic by definition is Universal Church which we all belong to. The Christian Reformed Church and those members belonging to it have simply taken their own interpretation of the scriptures. The matter isn't the differences...it's the belief and having the faith to believe in a higher being. Just remember - if you knew the answer - you wouldn't have to believe!

Catholics believe that Jesus offered an *opportunity* for salvation by believing in His sacrifice, and that this opportunity should not be taken for granted...hence the need to justify or prove one's faith by the content of their actions towards humanity (works).
They believe John 3:16 says whoever believes MAY have eternal life.

Protestants believe that believing in Jesus sacrifice is all that is necessary...hence their doctrine of "faith alone". This doctrine can roughly be summarized as "once saved, ALWAYS saved" because all sins, no matter how vile, are forgiven.
They believe John 3:16 says whoever believes WILL have eternal life...no matter what they do.

As a Christian... I believe in praying to God directly for forgiveness. I don't confess to a priest. I don't pray to Mary or saints. I think these are some major points. I don't know if I call myself Christian Reformed.

we dont believe in the Pope, we dont believe in purgatory, we at communion take the bread and wine in remembrance our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ as what He did for us. In the RC church, the wafer actually becomes the body of Christ by tranference or something like that. We do not pray to saints or angels as there is only one mediator between mankind and God which is our Lord and Saviour Christ Jesus. They believe it is a sin to miss mass, we dont, believe it is a sin if you miss church if there is a good reason. They go to confession to a priest, we confess our sins directly to our Lord and Saviour.

Well, as I see it, Catholics look into their manmade traditions (child molesting, baptizing babies, the pope etc.)~ and fellow (true) Christians follow the true loving word of God which is....love. Love everyone, love them unconditionally.

ps sorry to sound so bitter towards them, they have just done so much to mankind that is wrong, it will never be forgotten.
