I was raised catholic, but I am not now. I don't believe in purgatory. I believe as a Christian, I am going straight to God's presence when I leave this body.
2 Corinthians 5 : 8
We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.
(NKJV)

I don't beleive in it in the least. It is a place before heaven that you stay in for a while to pay for your sins. In my opinion it was invented so that the priests and pope could make more money. I am a christion. just not a catholics.

I would imagine it comes from experiences we have with ghosts,
or lost souls, who haven't gone to heaven or hell, but are
earthbound.
Some call it being in Limbo.

When people are "bad" they go to hell. When catholics are bad they go to purgatory.
