Hi -- done it. I smashed mine, so it was necessary to shove it all back into place and splint it to the ring finger, etc. It still wound up crooked and doesn't work right, which means I can't play the piano -- not that I ever could. :)
Are you being stupid? Kind of ... just get an X ray and let them splint it. I took off my splint a lot (maybe that's why it's crooked ....) but they tell you a lot of things when you are seeing the doc, such as never to splint one finger to another without gauze between the fingers, since the fingers will bind to another. And plaster isn't used these days for fingers ...
Be honest with the doc and it is very possible the doc will make it so you can take the splint off for work (may want to see you an extra time for the X ray because you don't want it to heal incorrectly).
Trust me, even though I saw a doc and it may seem to you that I should have better range of motion, etc., you seriously don't want the level of reduced motion I have. My choice was to rebreak it or never play the piano again ... it looks funny, but then to break it in 7 places, I think I'm pretty lucky -- at least I still have a finger there, right?

Hi yes i have broken my pinky. Both hands twice. And now one of them is in a splint cuz I popped it
Yes. Go to the doctor. One time walked around school for a week and wish I never did because I had to get pins and a cast. Get an x ray and let them splint it or cast it. (It was broken in 3 places though. Just go to the doctor:)

Oh hush!!! I broke mine right at the knuckle in July and was in a cast (pinky & ring together) for 6 weeks. Now going to therapy to make swelling go down. Do yourself a favor and at least get an x-ray to show if it did break, and how it is healing. If you really don't care, get one of those aluminum splints to put around your finger.

Yes, you need to have it looked at if it's still sore. I broke mine several years ago and did the same thing as you, waited. I ended up having to have the bone broken then reset. The reason was there was pressure on a tendon. A few weeks? If you don't get it looked at it's gonna hurt for life. Did you hurt your finger at work? I think you did. Go in to work and say, ouch!!! I hurt my finger. Then u can't lose your job. People do it all the time.

It may be. I understand that you don't have insurance till March, but you will have to allow someone to POSSIBLY break it and set it IF IT IS BROKEN because your finger MAY grow crooked and the break / set possibility that would have to be done to correct it would be the only solution. Talk to the place where you would normally go for treatment in your area for xrays. See if they will work out a payment plan with you. Tell them you will have insurance, and the type it is, in March.

No. I broke my pinky in the fifth grade. I functioned just fine. Its still crooked, but it works nonetheless. I didn't take a break from using it. I played football with it and basketball. (I was a bit of a tomboy). Maybe its cause I was little, but I honestly thought it was just jammed. It wasn't until it healed up that I realized it was broken. I even didn't notice until years later.

I'm in the same boat bro. Broke my pinky finger hurts , but I can't afford not working with my new born and bills out my ***. So I just tough it out. Some of us out here in the real world don't have a Safety Net and gotta tough things out. That is if you like lights on and a roof over your head.
