To my mind, accents is a wonderful thing and i like it very much. It makes me appreciate Gods' creativity in our differences or diversities.

Now, i think people that is not well read or illiterate or ignorant do not like accents not because they hate it in it self but, because they could not understand it and it takes so much effort in trying to understand one.

so please bear with them and be happy always. Am glad you love being a Scottish. So, ride on Scottish girl or any status you wish to go by and have a swell day.

Being Scottish, I'd have to say the Scottish accent is nice in general, though some are horrendous. Geordie accents are funny, Irish accents are too fiddledeedee and ungenuine, Cockney accents can be either humourous or annoying. The worst has to be Brummie, and the best probably a Uist or Benbecula accent.

Everyone has an accent.

By the way, there is no "Irish" accent....there are probably about 50 distinct accents there and a native North Dublin would be a LOT different to a Cork accent and hugely different again to a Belfast accent.

Some accents I like, some I don't.

I try very hard not to judge people by there accent, but i cant help it ,as soon as i here someone with a birmingham accent i cringe ,they sound thick,i know this is not the case as i have many brummy friends in excellent jobs.but i agree with an earlier answer regarding the cockney accent, this is not just an accent this is a destruction of the english language,it changes the words into different ones .it would be easier to speak spanish.I do think a scouse accent,a little like Ken dodd is a happy, cheeky accent that makes you appear likeable, even if its not true

I love accents particularly the Scottish and Irish.
I have a English North Country accent and I hope I don't lose it!
I think with an accent at least you have an identity.
My favourite accent is the Welsh. They always have a lovely lilt in their tone which I feel is uplifting.
Keep your accents.

It's personal preference whether we find certain accents annoying or attractive, but they're not annoying across the board because everyone has an accent to some degree! I wouldn't class it as racism but certainly if people are treated badly because of the way they sound then it's prejudice.

I think some accents are annoying, its not a racism thing at all. I find welsh annoying, and my nans family is from there. I also find some accents really attractive, like irish, its not meant to insult anyone though I can see how it would offend. I have a southern accent, Im sure there are those who dont like that.

No i like my accent (im geordie) i like the scottish accent as well my granny was scottish and i could have listened to her all day. I had an uncle who was irish and i used to find it very diffecult to understand him sometimes. The only accents i don't like are the brummies and welsh (sorry). Accents are part of who we are and where we have come from

I love accents, but I do have trouble understanding some of them, especially Glasgow.

Some accents can sound irritating, but I wouldn't tell anyone that I didn't like their accent.

i like to hear some accents but i must be honest and say that the majority of accents do annoy me because i really, genuinely do have a hard time understanding them and it gets embarrasing having to keep asking them to repeat themselves.
as i am partially deaf i have a hard time hearing anyway, and accents just make it harder for me.
so, yes i get annoyed, but not really at the accent, more, because
it makes it harder for me.
