Measuring it with an ohm-meter is the simplest. You could also connect it and a resistor of known value in series across a source of voltage. The voltage across each resistor is proportional to its value in ohms. For example, if you connect a 100K resistor in series with your unknown value across a 12-volt car battery, and the 100K has 6 volts across it, then your unknown resistor is also 100K. If the 100K value shows 3 volts drop and the unknown show 9 volts, the unknown resistor is 300K. If you do not have a voltmeter or ohmmeter, try the free call-in service of a local radio station to locate a Radio Amateur (Ham) in your neighborhood. They will have test equipment and measure your resistor as a free service.

If you do not have a service sheet, Providing it is not burnt out measure it on an ohm meter. If the color is of it is probably faulty, in which case the only way to find the value is in a service manual for the device Good luck kevin B
