I need to know if there are any forms to fill out, how to package it, etc. Do you know of any websites, or any one to contact before I go over in order to do this? Thanks so much for your help!

No, I don't think that is allowed.

I went to Florida in February '06 and one of the question they asked was did I have any kind of food items with me, and if so, I had to surrender it.

I said I didn't, and they let me through, but I actually did have several tins of Heinz baked beans with me, cos my son was going through a fussy stage then and that was about all he would eat!!!

Try & get to the immigration desk as quickly as you can - I was one of the first there (after the first class posh people!), and it still took nearly an hour to get through - the line behind us was enormous!!

Enjoy your trip - without the pie!!!!!

The import of meat products is forbidden except in tins. You can double check with the American Embassy but it will cost you as it is a premium line if you phone.
It is a bizarre present to contemplate but if you are staying with the intended recipient, you could make it on the spot when you get there . The only brand of tinned pies I know is Fray Bentos.

Yes, you can do it but it has to be canned. Back about 30 years ago I used to buy canned kidney pies (in USA from England) so you might want to check if it's worth hauling over. It was sold in a 9" (12"?) pan can (hey I'm a poet).

You can't take any food or drink itno the USA. I tried to take garlic strings for a gift and although it was packed in alot of wrapping (to eliminate everything smelling of garlic) the dogs came round me and I had to give it up.
Just take the recipe and make your friend the gift when you get there, much more friendly too!!

Forget it! You might try sending one direct. How about typing in Meat Pie and see what comes up?

Wouldn't it be simpler and cheaper to make the pie in the states?
We do have the ingredients available here. We even have modern kitchens, with lights and running water and everything.

Just take it to FedEx in England and send it to yourself or to the recipient. They'll get it into a proper contaner, you won't have to make explanations at airports, and nobody will think there's a bomb in it and xray it or cut it open.
