Yes ofcouse
As animals can easily understand the feelings and the wave length with which you are saying... it all depents on your inner feeling... the way you say. And certainly the animal will reciprocate......

Hi there again...Cats do not understand human language in the traditional way we do. They are primal and their basic instincts are based on such as food, water, procreation, shelter and if allowed they'll appreciate affection. That's called anthropomorphizing, giving a non human being (such as a cat or dog) or object a human characteristic.

It only makes us happy to tell our kitties we love them, kiss them, see them show their bellies, etc.

Here's a website that discusses feline emotions and the limits of these: http://www.messybeast.com/emoticat.html

Attributing human emotions to animals is dicey. The cat probably considers you more of a "Pack leader,"
or alpha cat, and if treated kindly associates you with pleasure, and in that way enjoys your company and "respects" you. You are it's dependable food source, which is #1 with cats.

She doesn't understand the actual sentence, but she understands the feeling that comes with it. Cats are sensitive and they know when you are mad or happy. I remember that everytime I cried, my cat will come and rub against me trying to soothe my pain.

she understands that you love her by what you do for her etc. she probably doens't understand those words. but just like anything, it's better to be shown that you someone loves you than be told.
