on a compound saw the bed should be at 31.65 degrees and the angel of the blade should be at 33.65 degrees. if your nesting the crown then it should be upside down and backwards and should be cut at a 45 degree angle

I've been dealing with crown moulding for the past four days. It's pretty tough. The best way to get the angle (if you are going to cut out the profile with a coping saw) is to set the piece of moulding on the miter saw with one edge of the moulding on the fence and the other on the base, then turn your miter saw to 45 degrees and cut the angle. This will give you the profile you need to follow with your coping saw.
I'm still trying to figure out how to cut the angles alone with the miter saw without having to "cope" 'them. Good luck

just "bed" the crown in the miter box upside down and backwards and cut it on a 45 deg.....i would start with a 1' piece and take it in the room and hold it up the way it goes and mark the angle with a pencil, then u can take it back to the miter box and when u turn it upside down and backwards u will see what i am talking about and get the hang of it........

note: bed- is when u place it in the miter box the same way it would rest on the wall)

Use a powered miter saw. Most accurate.
