The most effective way to learn Spanish is to live in a Spanish speaking country while attending a Spanish learning school there. There are good schools in Mexico and Guatemala. They are very helpful in helping you arrange a stay with them. I've known many students who attended for four or six weeks. I myself attended for 20 weeks.

If that is not possible, then of all the Spanish programs on line, free or paid, the best is Rosetta Stone. It is a program you will have to buy, but it is worth it. My opinion is not based on rating services, but on my own experience. I think Rosetta Stone is the most user friendly program, fun to use, and allows you to see and hear the language. It is a great tool for beginners, intermediates and those wanting to improve their Spanish. I also believe it simulates the way you really learn a new language.
¡Buena suerte! (Good luck!)
