Milk will not harm him... If he is eating well and is not overweight let him have all the milk he wants...

I drank milk as a young person all the time, since i helped on a milk round when that was poss able. Now I have an intolerance to milk and it's products. cows that is I can take goats or sheep's. which is a shame since I love cheese.
Milk is not natural to any thing other than the animal it was intended for when young. some of the by products are better and very good like yogurt or non processed cheese. try to change him to some of the yogurt drinks for his own sake. Don't listen to people like my parents who say milk is wonderful, and good for you, in small doses may be O.K. but don't let him be like me and end up having to avoid all cows milk products. I can take buttermilk and all the cultured products so I would advise you to try him on these if you can get them. they are freely available in most parts of mainland Europe

My cousin, who was in the Marines was addicted to milk. He used to drink a gallon a day. He put on so much weight, that he had a terrible time trying to keep it in "check". His Wife didn't know what to do with him, because he was addicted and couldn't get enough. (I attribute it to the fact that he only had powdered milk when he was growing up, and he finally was able to afford the "real stuff", and he was like an addict... Now, years later, he is a diabetic, and cant keep the insulin regulated).

The worse part about it, diabetes didnt run in his side of the family!

I wish you well..

Jesse

Well, at 14 he probably is drinking like that because he needs it. Usually when our body craves things our body knows we need it. Although when he gets older (20's) especially if he takes a multi-vitamin he won't want to drink as much and probably won't crave it as much. Later on in life too much milk and say, a vitamin will lead to kidney stones. Is there a family of lidney stones? Then he will be alot more prone to them.

Recently I have heard more and more about milk being not as good as we thought. If you are worried, make your son drink soya milk or slim milk.

Milk is between the suited beverages for you, and till you do have a weight subject i've got faith that finished fat milk is the very suited. Any fat that comes from the milk may be offset by using lowering fat in different food.

Get him on 2% if he's not active enough to burn off the calories of regular milk.
I have heard of too much calcium in the body, but not sure what happens should he get too much.
Next time you're at the doctors office, you might ask him about it. But it doesn't sound all that bad for him.

if you eat or drink a lot of anything it is not healthy for you. you are only supposed to have 12 onces of milk a day. maybe try getting him to be addictected to water or power aid, if he does a sport.

Full cream milk is fattening...otherwise I cant see any harmful effects from milk...better that than all the fizzy colas packed with sugar and additives.

nope. drinking milk is good for the bones & teeth. it also help prevent osteoporosis. though, too much milk will make him fat but remind him to do a regular fitness exercise. non fat milk is also good bec. it has no sugar.
