I have heard it said, "No Bible verses...don't you have your own opinion?"

But consider if the question was about the Constitutionality of something (in the U.S) and one was prohibited from quoting from the U.S. Constitution (in order that one might "think for themselves")? Or if one was asked a question about geometry but prohibited from mentioning any principles of geometry? Kind of silly isn't it?

Christians believe that the word of God is the ultimate truth...why would they not reference it? After all God has said, "Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. (Josh 1:8)

People who ask for that don't really want your opinion, they just want to see if they can stump you, or prove that you are a mindless robot who follows your faith without real conviction because you can't *think* for your self!! what they're failing to realize is everybody 's opinion is based on some influence, weather it's the Bible or the doctrines of man, so they're real purpose is to try and undermine your convictions, to get you to second guess yourself and make you doubt. -Really it's best to ignore people like them, and if only everybody would perhaps those time wasters, who have no sincere questions would, at last, go away!

Simple. The questions are requesting fact based answers, not faith based ones.

The Constitution is widely accepted as being doctrine, put forth by men, to govern men. There is no claim being made that it was handed down to us by a divine power, and it can be proven who actually wrote it. When it is neccessary, the facts that are used to uphold the Constitution can be verified. Furthermore, one can find mountains of writings to support the ideals and laws of the Constitution that don't even mention it.

The bible on the other hand, has no verifible author, claims to be the word of a higher power handed down to mankind thru other men, and the information that it does contain is so mired in allegory, that there is no way to discern the true nature of its origin. Historical evidence asserts the fact that not only was the bible voted on in committee, without that pesky god fellow showing up to the meeting, but that some of the writings used to create the bible as it stands today were penned by individuals who promoted lying to the faithful as a means to control the masses. Any writings done by biblical scholars are subject to dismissal, because you can't cite the object of study as a source of information, which happens in almost every circumstance. On the rare occasion that it doesn't, look at the bibliographies of the books that are cited. Even by being generations away, you get the same biased results.

I am capable of answering questions without resorting to miles of copy/paste and quotes from various authors, therefore I expect the same in return.

When I state *no scripture, copy/paste* I also add *your own words, if you will please*. I do that not to stump and confuse people, but to get their genuine beliefs and opinions.

Anyone can quote other people. It takes someone special to think for themselves. That is what I am looking for.
