I have a sort of problem, well annoyance with my 5 month old kitten. She will ONLY drink out of the bathroom sink. She pretty much makes my mother or I turn it on while where in the bathroom and she'll stand ther for like 5min drinking it. When either of us go in there, weather shes in a deep sleep at the time or beating up on one of her sisters, she stop whatever shes doing, race into the bathroom and start crying and pacing, till I pick her up and turn on the water for her.

I have no problem with this at all, except when the door is closed and she starts to like rip up the carpeting till I let her in. This is the only time she ever rips at anything.

I know that she wants the cold water but I dont understand why this is the only place she'll drink now, it started about a month ago. We have 3 cats and two bowls of water that we change about twice a day so It's not like there is not enough.

Dont get me wrong it is super cute when shes standing in the sink and drinking water.

I have the EXACT same problem! But my cat is grown. 6-7 yrs. Try to get your kitten one of those water dishes that keeps the water flowing with a filter. I got one for my cat but it didn't like it much. But i dunno, maybe yer kitten will like the flowing water in the dish instead of the sink...
Good luck with that. ;)

Cats, by nature, like the idea of running water. It goes back to something instinctive from drinking water out of a stream or other body of moving water in the wild. Try a water bowl with a fountain that pours the water. You can usually get one at a pet store. The fountain bowls also seem to keep the water fresh.

You could also try placing a normal bowl on the bathroom floor or outside of the bathroom door.

Try using a squirt bottle when she rips at the carpet. Maybe even place a small scratching post in the area to deter her from using the carpet.

Both of my cats only drink their water in our bathroom no matter where I put their bowls. Go figure. Good luck.

My cat did that too. I don't know what it is. They also try to rip up the carpet. We put a towl under the door to help with the carpet. Eventually, she quit drinking out of the sink but only did every once in a while. Now my other one drinks out of the potty. We have to flush it every time. Just give it some time and try that towel under the door.

I have a cat who wants ice in his water.

Personally, I would stand outside the closed door and spray her with water when she starts ripping the carpet. That has broken my cat from bad behaviors. Make sure she ALWAYS has fresh water. Change it twice a day (and add ice.)

I had a cat that would only drink in from the sink or bathtub faucet. I don't think he ever drank out of his bowl. I would have got him a pet fountain if they existed back then.

You could put a carpet or plastic rug over the area she scratches, just move it when you have company over.

This habit is more common than you think. I have known 3 cats, two of my
own and one of my daughter's, who love to drink from a faucet. I believe
that these three cats had a strong innate desire to find their own source of
water. It must be a leftover habit from when they were wild. The good
thing is that now they have slaves to help them by turning on faucets for
them. Don't feel bad. Cats don't have owners...they have staff.

cats can be fussy like that and there's nothing you can do to change it. My mum's cat will only drink from the tap in the bath. we tried everything to stop it and nothing works.
Get rid of the carpet and put wooden flooring down...no more problem

Maybe your kitten loves the bathroom sink too much .
I have no idea what's wrong as this is pretty unusual .
Have a nice day ~

I had the SAME problem with the bath tub... then I bought a water filter just like this one and they really like it. Plus you don't have to rinse and refill the water bowl as much.

The cat should have boundaries, rules, and punishments.
