My son had the same problem and they went in and took out his adnoids, tonsils and put tubes in his ears and he regained his full hearing back and thankfully hasn't had another ear infection since. the ent specialist will be able to tell you how bad the damage is and if it is fixable good luck and god bless

It does sound serious, and sometimes this kind of damage can come from infection. My friend is going through that right now, and she's having to go back to the specialist a couple times a week for shots to clear up the infection, then they will see where her hearing stands. I know 4 weeks seems like a very long time to wait, and it is. Call the office of the specialist often to see if there are any cancellations so maybe you can get an earlier appointment. Is the hearing loss in just one ear? It seems to me the earlier they can intervene, the likelier the chances that her hearing can be saved. Call your regular Dr. too and ask if there's another specialist or what the effects of having to wait so long might be, and ask him if there's anything he can do while you wait. Good Luck.

it is serious that her eardrum is damaged along with her hearing. But if the doctor thought that it was an emergency, he would have put on the referal that your daughter needed to be seen right away. Just try and lower her ear damage by keeping them safe from loud noises. good luck
