Well I didn't marry a girl I married my husband. LOL Ever hear of a Justice of the peace, or having a judge marry you?
Likewise I did have a big wedding and it was out doors and it was planned. You don't have to have a Pastor or Minister to marry you when you have a big wedding.

You don't want to be married in a church if you are an atheist and why be married anyway if you don't believe in God? Weddings are a religious ceremony. Have a civil service.

In my country, beautiful Turkey, it's actually illegal to be wed by a 'man of the cloth' - isn't that great? Well, an imam or a priest or whatever you want can do their voodoo, but it's not recognised as official, so you have to have a public ceremony at which the word 'God' or 'Allah' is distinctly _not_ mentioned. This was the wedding I had and it was lovely and beautiful. God was not invited to my wedding, and his presence was not missed.

You don't have to get married in a church or by a pastor. A marriage license is issued by local or state government not a church. By the way studies have shown that atheists have lower divorce rates than christians.

If you really love someone with all your heart, you don't need a thing like marriage to seal the deal. Plus I don't judge people on their religion and if it will make them happy I will go to church and get married. Its called compromise for the ones you love.

At city hall like everyone else? If she believes in god, i don't mind going into a church and performing some ritual. It's not like we are going to melt or something.

My brother and his fiancee are athiests, but our parents don't know. They are having a ceremony outdoors with a civil leader presiding - it will be very romantic and beautiful and I doubt anyone will miss the prayers and sermon.

Common-law marriage is also legal in most states. That's where the couple agree that they are married, and they're married.
