i'm really puzzled by its gender...

Winnie the Pooh is male.
For some reason in the cartoons they gave him and piglet the voice of an old man... not sure why.
I don't think Pooh is gay, actually, I don't think he is anything. His sexuality is never discussed in the books, they are after all for kids. Probably a good thing, because that would just be plain nasty.

winnie is quite possibly a nickname for william. i know for a fact that the cuddly-wuddly pooh bear is a male, but it's a fur-ball so that really doesn't matter. The only female is roo's mother, kanga.

winne is a male, piglet is also a male, rabbit is a male, kanga is a male, owl is a male, the donkey is also a male, christoper is a boy, the elephant that recently came in is also a male. the only female in the cartoon is kanga's mother.
