I need to speak to someone whose telephone will probably be answered by a Dutch person who might not be able to speak English.

Zou ik alstublieft mijnheer X te spreken kunnen krijgen.
(very polite)

The answer you will get is likely to be:

Hij is er niet. (He is not there.)

You ask: Kan hij mij terugbellen?(Can he call me back.?)
Wanneer komt hij terug?(When does he come back?)


Ja=Yes
Nee=No

michael is the only one with the right answer... however, almost everyone in the netherlands speaks english, don't worry...

its very much like afrikaans i did not spell it right so that you can say like i have spelt it and still get it right! you can also give a dirrect afrikaans translation! " mag ek met maner..... praat asseblief"

Dutch people are all taught English at school. otherwise try in German, I try to write it how it sounds. canst ich sprecken mit Herr ....
