Pit Bulls are intelligant, loving, funny and active dogs. They make great family pets and are GREAT around CHILDERN. Despit what other misguided people of read. However, they are mistreated and have a long line of racial slurs against them because of bad owners and bad press. You should only own a Pit Bull if you are responsible to NOT fight them, but FIGHT FOR THEM. Your on the right track keep reserching for the dog that is right for you.

Find a reputable breeder or rescue such as PBRC or Animal Farm . Ask lots of questions , and get to know about the breed . A good book to read is called the Working Pit Bull written by Diane Jessup. A good web site that is breed specific is Pit Bull Forum . Go on there and read everything. There are many knowlegable people that have been into this breed for years .To answer your question ,yes they are the best dogs to get if they come from a reputable source. My son was 3 when I had my first Pit and i've owned them ever since.

Pit Bulls are GREAT dogs, the only bad ones are the ones that were raised by ignorant people with the wrong motives. By nature they are VERY loving and loyal dogs. My Pit loves everyone and everything. His best friend is my year old Lab who terrorizes him. Do not listen to what a lot of people say there are tons of other breeds out there that are not reccomended for different reasons, watch the dog show ons Animal Planet they tell you a lot about the breeds.

Pit Bulls can be great pets just like any other dog. With the use of them for fighting by a number of irresponsible owners has given them a really bad name.
If you are considering getting one, do the research on the breed AND on any breeder you might consider. A good breeder will breed for temperment and that's how it should be with any breed of dog. If you go buying from a "backyard" breeder, you may not be able to verify much about the dogs history.
Um, I don't and never have owned a Pit, but I have friends who do and they're really loving dogs if brought up in a loving home with appropriate training.

pitbulls are great dogs for the right person....you need to do reserch on the breed and if you are a first time dog owner you may want to reconsider....pits need a knowledgable, dominant owner willing to take time to train and socialize them....you also need to make sure you are responsible enough to ALWAYS keep your pit on a leash when not in your fence....spay or neuter your pit....if you decide this is the breed for you contact your local pitbull rescue and adopt...save a life !!!!

It relies upon on the canines. yet i does no longer desire to take the possibility that the Rodesian Ridgeback ought to "carry it truly is very own" against one, to no longer point out 2 pit bulls. next time you notice the canines, call the police. Take photos of the canines and hand them in to the government. checklist each and all the days and cases which you notice the canines on your materials. provide that to the police. they're going to at last locate out who owns the canines or %. them up in the event that they're strays. to assert that "it is not approximately canines struggling with" is untrue. because of the fact it somewhat is precisely what you say. i'm optimistic there'll be doggie bloodshed in case you do what you're considering.......

Depends on if you have kids or not, and if you know the breeder and the history of the female and male dogs. If you have kids, I would def. say no! Pits can turn anytime, it's a shame they are looked down apon, they are beautiful dogs, but the loyalty with pitbulls is very questionable.

I'm pretty sure you shouldn't own an animal at all if you can't be bothered to spell out words.
