Hi!

Paris is beautiful at night time!
You should leave your luggage at the airport, then take the train (RER) to the city and explore the Champs Élysée and the Eiffel Tower.

I don't know what airport you'll be at, but there are trains from both Charles de Gaulle and Orly airport. Go off at "Châtlet" and change for the metro. Take the yellow (line 1) direction "la Défense". Get of at "Franklin D. Roosevelt".

You'll now find yourself at the Champs Élysée. Walk down all the wait to Place de la Concorde. The Champs Élysée is a safe place to be at night time and there's always something going on with a lot of peoples, restaurants, bars and shops taht are open even after midninght.

When you get to Place de la Concorde, turn right and you'll get to the Eiffel Tower. It beautiful and even more beautiful than normal at night-time, when it's dark and the tower is lid up. Amazing!

Then I guess you'll have to take a taxi back to the airport, cause there would'nt be any metro or trains operating that late.

Her are some usefull sites

the last one gives you a maps and schedules on trains and metro in Paris.

Bon Voyage!

The biggest problem will actually to first get rid of your luggages. There are no lockers for security reasons (last time I saw some, it was in the Bourne identity ;-) ) and the you do not find left-luggage office in every station, furthermore, they all close before midnight.

The best bet would probably to go to a hotel and ask them to keep your luggage for 5-10 euros. They will generally accept. Better choose a not too shabby one, there should not be any problem, but who knows.

Then it will all depend of your style and of how much money you have. 15-20 euros would get you almost anywhere in Paris at night.

Around the champs elysee, very secure at night, but I never fel in danger in Paris though. All quite expensive and chic. You can walk a lot around.
- fashion clubs, expensive, hard to enter (and overrated if you ask me): L'etoile, le VIP
- Lounge, nice deco, nice bar: buddha bar, hotel costes (not recommended if you are alone, the hemingway bar in the Ritz (closes at 2am), man ray...
There is also the queen which used to be gay but now allow anybody a bit trendy in.

Around Saint Michel, Odeon. More students, you can better feel the parisian atmosphere. Very nice area, you can walk along the Seine, see Notre Dame. This is where you will get the best glimpse of Paris according to me. Go along the boulevard saint michel, many nice bars, most of them close at two though. Many are very famous, full of history: cafe de flore, lipp, les deux magots.
Then there are many students bar around, very international: piano vache, moosehead (for canadians), frog and the princess,
le wagg, a bit more chic in the area and open all night.
This is definitely the area where I would go for one night and do a big tour, from the hotel de ville, le marais, beaubourg (trying to avoid les halles which is a bit dodgy), and then back to Notre Dame, buy a Croissant from the first boulangerie that opens.

Around Pigalle, a bit dodgy with all the sex shops. You can easily access to Montmartre from there and get a very nice view of Paris from the sacre coeur:
some bar open all night long, not so expensive, not so nice either but open the whole night which is rare: chao ba or le dépanneur
Some clubs, La loco, just next to le moulin rouge, probably the easiest club to enter, lots of young people. Also the folies pigalle, very crazy club.

Else there is also the Bastille area, with la mercerie, or the wax (nice club, easy to enter, good atmosphear). Also the barrio latino, latino club, the one I prefer.

Paris is not so dangerous, but it is not like some other cities, it is very empty at night. However you should not feel insecure. Most of the french are also very afraid to speak english, so do not be pissed if they do not reply

Have a nice trip and hope you like it :)

if you want more details, put some more information, like your budget, the music or atmosphear you like, what you would prefer to do, your age...

It's been a few years since I stayed any serious amount of time in the city, but my recollection is that just about everything decent -- the bars, the brasseries, the coffeehouses, etc. -- closes up around 11 pm - 1 am. The all-night places cater to a wild crowd, unsuitable for cultured and delicate ladies on their own such as yourself, who would certainly find debauchery and loud music unappetizing. You should therefore avoid at all costs any establishments that are open at that time, especially those in the 1st arrondissement located on 33 rue des Petits Champs called L'Insolite.

Two big troubles :
- to get rid of your luggages (solution already given above)
- to get to Paris (use the noctilien bus operated by the RATP from 0.30 to 05.30; from CDG airport, it's line N120, N121, N140; the rest of time, use normal RER and metro trains)

Places that are lively at night time :
- champs-elysées and its side streets
- latin quarter : st-germain, st-michel, boulevard st-michel
- ... and red light areas : pigalle, bois de boulogne (careful of your purse and pockets !)

If you just a good night-club : go to 'Le Night', at the foot of the Concorde Lafayette Hotel (Porte de Maillot). The owner is very helpful and won't let you down !

If you can ditch your luggage or aren't carrying a lot, there are a ton of bars and clubs open until 5 a.m. or later. Check one of them out that matches your interests. You can always grab a bite to eat (and bring your luggage) to a famous all-night diner, au pied de cochon.

I don't think that there's much good that can occur during those hours, if you're not in a room. I'd be careful and try to keep yourself safe.
