Yes it is a sin. But sad to say a lot of Catholic girls committed that sin. They were overpowered by temptations. Most of them commit it because they love the guy, and they think he was their Mr. Right. Preserving virginity depends on the practice of culture. On how she was raised. And it also depends on the girl...whether shes Catholic or not. Its her choice.

The curch does teach that pre-marital sex(and masterbation) are sins.
Some girls are more Chaste because of this belief.
I believe it's a sin - but so is lying, wanting things your friends or celebrities have, being vain. I've sinned against God in all these ways all those so why not the sex one too.

First, sex before marriage is a sin against the other person.
Second, sex before marriage is a sin against yourself.
Third, sex before marriage is a sin with consequences no matter what your faith is. It's wrong because it goes against the way we are made.
Fourth, it is not just priests who say sex before marriage is wrong, it is the secular world, the university studies, the sociological statistics that show how much suffering it MAY bring.
Fifth, you are assuming EVERYONE is having sex before marriage. This is not true.

kepha31 did a great job on that answer is is right on! this is not spoken only in the Catholic church but a variety of other denominations for it is in the bible and we are told the body is not for fornication. the body is for procreation - yes it's a gift - but we're not talking about the orgasims, we're talking about the fact that life is the outcome of sex. if you're not married you are going against the sacrament of marriage.

pre-marital sex is not a sin at all. as this is natural process created by god. so priests who say sin are selfish and manipulating the things for their own benefit

it all depends on the individual, Catholic or not. Priests only remind people what is sin and what is not.
in the end we will all answer to God individually.

Why get hung up with sex? We have all sinned and fallen short. Many priests and nuns have had sex and still do, we all sin and saying they don't or did not is another sin. Only Jesus can forgive.

usually they will say after marriage than only can have sex if not it is a sin
it is their believe and ideology only
