because cats can truly understand simple commands and sometimes, not too simple conversations we have with them. Its a mystery! For example, I am not sure when my cat learnt the command "sit down" and "lie down." I just noticed a few years ago that when I tel him to "sit down" he will and when I say, "lie down," he won;t sit but lie doen on his side and look at me> I praise him for obeying. My cat also understands, "Tired na mama tired" - that means I am not up to playing. He understand "Get ya fedah-feda" and he goes drags his feather teaser from under whatever.... Its a mystery!

Because when you make eye contact with them while making a vocal noise, they understand that it is directed at them.
