regarding parking cars outside your house??
we live on a terraced street and have 2 vehicles and we are constantly moaned at for parking outside other peoples houses but i say nothing when they park outside mine as i see that it is purely a first come first served situation
where possible we try to keep one vehicle outside our house and park the other, which is a company van (a small one though) wherever it will go
1 neighbour in particular always comes to ask my husband to move it so they can park their car there even if it is not outside their house, i think they have no right to do this, we have an agreement between ourselves that we will not park outside each others houses where poss and we have stuck to this over several months
we are not the only household with 2 vehicles but it feels like we are always singled out. please help..........what can be done??

although i already suspect nothing

thanks for your time

You have no more right to park in front of your house than anyone else. So it is a first come first served situation and your nieghbours have no right to complain. To be honest as long as you show a reasonable amount of consideration then I would not worry. If they come knocking I'm afraid I would tell them to go away. As for the neighbour who asks your hussband to move his van regardless of whether it is outside their house or not, ask them why they think they have more right to park there than you?

At the end of the day I could drive into your street, park my car in front of their house and there would be nothing legally they could do about it.
Don't let them take the pi$$, be firm and if they are being unreasonable just ignore them.

My sister is in a similar situation. Firstly no one has the right to tell you to move as on the road you're living anyone can park anywhere...I would suggest that you get in touch with your local council and explain the problem and ask them to consider introducing a residents parking scheme where everyone would have to apply for passes to park, this may help the problem. sorry couldn't help more

As long as you dont have more than 2 vehicles at your house you can park wherever you like. Its totally first come first served. If you are not blocking someones drive then its fine.

So long as your car is taxed, insured and MOT'd you have every right to park your car anywhere on the public highway (apart from the motorway LOL). Just ignor them and tell them to get a life!

it is illegal to park your car in a way that causes an obstruction to traffic/pedestrians, yellow lines or not. It is punishable with 3 points and upto £1500 fine....normally it doesn't happen though.
