I read somewhere that there's a free website where you can details of planes flying over certain areas in the UK. Anyone know what the site is?

Not so much an ident site, but one that is interesting and amusing just the same is http://www.flightlevel350.com where there are many videos of various commercial and military aircraft, some in dangerous situations (wobbly landings in a 737 for instance). My favorites are the 747s approaching over a beach at 20-30 ft.

http://www.airliners.net describes many of the more common aircraft in use throughout the world with pictures.
