Yes. You can go into shock. Don't do it. If you want you can gradually start from warm water to cold water, but never just start with cold water. Its not good. You can die.

Go sit in front of an air conditioner or drink really cold water. Its alot better than dying. =)

Julia C, you are an idiot.

sometimes you may think it is funny to give wrong information, but this could kill someone. heart attacks are no joke, and even a teenager can get one if excessively stressing the body via exercise and getting into a cold bath.

you are risking lives.

do some checks first, stick to things you actually know, or ask an adult before posting.

starwood, you too.
get educated. toxins dont go through your skin when you exercise, that is sweat, a form of temperature control the body does automatically to cool itself. the toxins in the sweat are from bacteria on the skin.

toxins in the muscle (like Lactic Acid) are flushed out into the blood where it ends up in the kidneys and liver and excreted in the urine.

if anyone here wants a cold bath/shower after exercise, wait till you are cooler, after all its only sweat. Or start off with water that is body temperature and slowly decrease as you cool down.

congrats to all the folks who speak the truth here.

A cold shower or bath is a bad idea after exercise that gets you hot enough to sweat. It can cause cramps and in a worst case, put the body in shock.

Take time to cool down, and then take a warm shower.

After excercise it's always good to shower under warm water first and then cold shower. Because cold water is good for your bloodstream. It could be bad if you suddenly run cold water onto your body after being sweating because your body tempreture is won't adjust to cold suddenly. So starting out gardually will help.

yes.
dont do it.
your body is releasing hot, calories after extreme exercise with sweat..
wait for at least 15mins to stop sweating and feel the dry cold skin
then you can shower.
otherwise, it will be like pouring cold water to a heated tin , tin will shrink...your body will shocked and will be sick

Yes, because the change in temperature is too fast for the body to handle. Yes, its good to lose the heat but the way to do it is important. You have to allow your body to adjust by itself instead of splashing yourself in cold water.

Same goes for treating frostbites with hot hot water...its a no no.

Nope it's actually better than taking a hot bath cause the blood to lose circulation and the cold just calms you're body ! say if you're nausiated from over working yourself you don't want hot water you want cold It's just like getting drunk and always wanting to hang out the window cause it's nice and cool!!!!
