Probably not - especially if they don't have your SSN... But I've seen plenty of credit reports with collections on them from those types of companies.

Best rule of thumb. Pay all of your bills on time. ;-)

In my experience 999/1000, no. Now lets talk about late vs. Delinquent. For example lets say that your payment is due Oct. 1 and they say it will be late by Oct. 15. A payment made on Oct 16 would not be reported to your CBR (Credit Bureau Report). However, if it was paid Nov 2 it would be considered delinquent (1x30) and would then be eligible for reporting negatively. In general, they will not report unless you bill is neglected completely! I would say that you could probably go up to 90 days delinquent before they would take any action (phone calls, CBR reporting, collections).

That depends on the company. Some report to the 3 major agencies, others do not. Mostly, however the keep records for 10 years, and if you need service in your name again, the old bill will have to be paid.

They won't report it to a credit agency if your just late, they can go back to you and request a deposit if you are consistently late however. If you close the account and don't pay off the bill they will try to collect and if they don't, they could report it, especially if they have your Social.

If you make every effort to get caught up, such as making payment arrangements, and keep those payment arrangements, they usually don't. But if you just up and move and don't pay the bills, they will send you to collections, then the collection agency will report it on your credit. Talk to the companies that you owe money to, and don't make arrangements you can't keep.

surely it will adversely affect your credit score!!! If the matter goes to the collection agencies it will be very hard for you to get loans or another credit card in future.

A direct effect, maybe or maybe not. I do know that it is more than collections that can be seen. If you consistently pay your utilities late, it can be seen when your credit report is pulled.
