A 25 pound, 1 ounce largemouth bass, a possible new world record bass, was caught on March 20, 2006 in California. It may not be considered as a record because of problems with the catch.
The world record bass was caught near Jacksonville, Georgia on June 2, 1932 by George Perry. It weighed 22 pounds 4 ounces and was caught from an oxbow lake off the Ocmulgee River called Montgomery Lake. That is one of the most sough-after records in the fishing world.

The biggest that I have caught is an 8 pounder large mouth bass. I caught a 7 and an 8 pounder in about 30 minutes time one day. These were the first large bass bass caught from this pond. A total of 5 bass weighing over 7 pounds have been caught from this pond in the last 15 years, The largest being 9.25 pounds which my dad caught.
