My friend has the same thing happening with her son. She pulled him out of school and put him into the continuation. It is more one on one and the class size is small. They kids only go for 4 hours a day. It allows the struggling student to feel more important.

Perhaps he needs therapy too! My friends son has huge anger problems, but she doesnt have the money to put him in therapy. Have you thought about drugs? Drugs could be the reason for behavior changes tooo!! I wish you luck, it is very difficult situation.

The best way to allow motivation back into life is to reconnect with our spirit, inspiration and inner joy, first find out how one lost his joy or deep inner connection once you heal that moment of disconnect usually a trauma emotional or physical you can build on it further from then on.

So I wonder, where is he learning all this behaviour from? At home or outside? More likely at home, is he leading an inspirational life at home? Does he have or did he have inspirational role models at home while growing up or something happened when he lost his inspiration, his lack of interest can just be acting or simply tuning out from his life as he is finding a part of it too painful or difficult to handle, find out that.

I urge you to figure that out first, as children learn the most from their parents directly and indirectly, does he get inspired by you or your life?

Ask him what he loves doing, and allow him in doing that you, allow inspiration and self motivation come back into his life.

If a child is inspired at home, no amount of discouragement or lack of it on the outside can take his inspiration away, so watch out for that. How did he loose his childhood spirit and an inspiration to excel as a human being, so if you cant provide him inspiration who else will, become an inspiration that is what inspires a child the most, what no motivational therapy does.

I am assuming you are the parent. You should try Tough Love (their web address is below). They can be very helpful, especially if you have a support group in your area. It is important for you to realize you are not alone, but you also have to be strong and firm about setting and enforcing limits and boundaries for your son; he actually needs you to do this more than ever, otherwise it will just get worse. Even more important, you need to get this under control if there are younger children also in the household, so they can see that this behavior will not be tolerated and must be corrected.

Good luck to you, it is the hardest job in the world.
