Depends on the attacking country. The numbers of ICBMs with MRV capability (Russian and Chinese) as well as Russian SLBM or strategic bombers will easily get most of their nukes past our current defenses. Countries like NorKor (assuming they had one) or other rump states will have to sneak one in via lead-lined cargo ships or suitcases over our thinly guarded borders....

Our only defense against a full scale Russian/Chinese attack is a full-scale retaliatory attack or pre-emptive attack....trust me....our options are limited (ie, the reason for the MAD doctrine).

The last anti-missile interceptor test conducted at Vandenberg Air Base in California was apparently a success. It happened just last month. It intercepted a dummy missile which was shot from Alaska. But, it was just a test and it wasn't a test against ICBMs (intercontinental ballistics missile) which is a long rage missile (3,500 miles) used as a nuclear weapons delivery system. So if we get nuked, hopefully by then we'll have tested more of these suckers...or else...kabloom...we're all dead.

probably not.
there are too many people in the world that forget that bombs actually kill more than just a reputation. im sure they will get bombed. sad though. anytime someone innocent dies in a mass that is considered worthy of destruction - just because their political leader makes unsupported decisions - it makes the bomb-dropper so f*cking hypocritical. nobody thinks about that fact though. everybody wants blood. they dont care if millions die for no reason. they just dont care. THAT is the actual problem here and with war and with the whole f*cking question. and i hate that MORE than "america".

America cannot "avoid" it so much as protest it. Its form of "protest" would be, of course, quite destructive. This expectation of reciprocated destructiveness is (quite unfortunately) now a staple of international politics.

I really don't think so. We have pissed off far too many other people around the world, and too many people in the U.S.A. are so dumb, they actually think about illegal immigration like it is a real problem...why not take a look at our incompetent administration and how they spend tax money or needless, trivial things, and take us to war to kill 1000s of soldiers...and countless more civilians in Iraq (oh, but that's right...I forgot..they are not American, so they really aren't important...only Americans citizens are important--right?) That is what people seem to imply here...American citizens are worth more than other people in the world. It is sick.
