I scored a 58 AFQT on the ASVAB... (Don't ask I took the test at 5:15 a.m. and I am not a morning person), And I originally planned to be an MAA because I wanted to pursue a law enforcement career when I become a civilian... But sadley one only one of my line scores didn't meet the requirement for the job...It was PC and I was 7 points shy and they could not waive it so they said my best chance of getting in was going into the AO department and impress my cheifs and do well in A School and quite possibly they might let me cross over to the MAA School...but I have heard many things about this, some say I might have to wait two years some say work hard and you got it...But I really want to look more into this.

Thanks.

Because I've seen guys at MEPS with a lower AFQT score than me get into the SEAL program...there has to be someway around it.

+ You can try to cross over sooner, but the best time is when you are about to re-enlist as you have more options as far as assignment and they want retention. You can try doing the Rate training manual and the PQS in advance.

seem like u haven't in bootcamp yet, well situation like this does happend. Master Arm is overmmaned now, they had the worst libery statues, in port expect 1 of 2 days had duty while rest people might be 1 of 4 or even 8 days. AO isn;'t a bad rate, kinda lay back rate, alot less work compare to MA, who work many hours.

U kinda screw for now, since u pick u school don't expect much help till after A school is over.

Having been an MAA I've never met anyone who didn't meet the initial ASVAB requirements to actually cross over.

Sorry.

i could propose the two AT (Aviation Electronics Tech) or AMS (Aviation Structural Mechanic). the two one among those rankings provides you with staggering interest adventure, that's definitely transferred to the civilian interest industry. As an (AO) Aviation Ordnanceman, you will income much less technical adventure. - army Senior chief

Anyone can cross-rate. Get yourself sent TAD to security, do the best you can, and when you time is drawing to an end, submit your package. If you've worked it right, you will have impressed your chiefs and up, and they will write you recommendation letters.

Yes you can cross rate to any rating you choose provided it is not full and they need the man power....last I knew MA's were pretty closed up...but talk to your Career Counselor to get the ball rolling....good luck
