I'd call superstitions dangerous, like the notion that people who are left handed are somehow influenced by demons. Or that angels yank people out of the way of cars or falling rocks. Or that prayer heals diseases but not amputations. Or the notion of people being possessed by demons...and then dying during the "exorcism".

Believers are superstitious by definition: They believe in supernatural events and powers without any reason to do so beyond the words in a book and the interpetations therefrom.

Superstition: any belief based on fear or ignorance

Now, I'm curious as to just exactly how your question applies to either of these in relationship to people who have a belief system, which is everyone, even atheist, whose belief system is not have one; and then how does this apply to someone being startled by their reaction to pornography. All belief systems will inform one of the nature of mankind and that is the allure of the human body and its basic drives; so I find it difficult for people to be surprised by what they see, but maybe startled that they would react as a normal fleshly person.

Yet, I'm still perplexed as to how you tie this in with believers, quaintness, and superstitions.
