Perhaps it is because men are programmed to love more than one woman at once. So what we consider "cheating" is actually perfectly normal behavior, and when you get mad at him for cheating you break his heart, because he truly does love you. Just not only you.
It certainly makes sense evolutionarily. One man can seed multiple women.
