How could an all forgiving, all loving god, not forgive his son/daughters after they are dead. Does he have the power to watch his children burn for eternity. Does he have the power to give another chance, or forgive him for his sin? Why watch your children get tortured. I would not do that to my father and my father would not do that for me. He would trade places.

MEN WILL LIE TO YOU AND SAY:YOUR GOOD WORKS,YOUR A GOOD PERSON,AND SO ON.
BUT JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY TO GOD.
GOD WILL NOT WATCH YOU BURN-HE CREATED HELL FOR SATAN.
YOU HAVE CHOSEN TO GO TO HELL, WHEN YOU DO NOT CHOOSE JESUS.
YOU MIGHT WANT TO ASK JESUS INTO YOUR HEART BEFORE IT IS TO LATE.

If God gave a free pass into Heaven to everyone,no matter how they lived their lives here on Earth, what then would have been the point of Jesus dying a horrible death on the cross so that we may have the chance at eternal life? We ask God for forgiveness of our sins while we are alive, because once you're dead,it is too late. And God doesn't choose to send people to hell. They chose it on their own by not accepting Jesus as their personal Savior. The precious blood of Jesus was shed so our sins could be forgiven. If God opened the gates to everyone, good and evil,Jesus would have died for nothing.Sin cannot enter into Heaven. If you're not forgiven before death, there are no more chances. You had your whole life to be forgiven, and if you don't choose to do so,that's not God's fault.

With all due respect,

What's the meaning of justice? Would there be justice in 'forgiving' murderers and rapists and letting them go free?

God is first of all, a Judge. He cannot let the unjust go 'free' because then there would be no justice in that. Someone has to pay for the injustices that have been committed.

Instead of making those who committed the injustices pay, He chose to pay it Himself.

However, people must be willing to accept their gift of freedom that God Himself had paid for, by the life, suffering, death and resurrection of God the Son, Jesus Christ.

So your question is flawed.

It's not that God does not forgive. Rather, it's that people do not believe in and accept his forgiveness.

Once we're dead, we must somehow be changed, as that choice becomes no longer available to us.

God is forgiving if you ask for His forgiveness. If you already die, you will not be able to ask for His forgiveness. He is great, it is just human being are so selfish. He already set a rule on how people should live and we are just ruining our life by not following of what He said. For all the wrongdoing that we have done should be punished and for all the good things will be rewarded. You can only seek forgivenes from God and not by confessing to the priest. God is fair.

Your implication is that hell is an option; but we are born into sin and therefore into hell and if we do not ever choose to accept the redeeming grace of Jesus Christ, then nothing has changed about where our life is headed. So, God, in his loving mercy and grace, gave us a way out of what was our born destiny, He gave us his son. But he also gave us our physical lifetime to make this choice, because our soul is eternal, not our physical being, and we will not commit sin once our soul leaves this physical being, so what will there be to forgive? John 3:16-18 gives a greater explanation of this than I have, but if you want to know the truth of the question you have asked, it will clarify it for you. May your search grant you much more wisdom than that displayed on yahoo answers.

The men who wrote the Bible interpreted messages from God and the Bible holds true in its guidance as how we should live our lives. We know more now and have to interpret the symbolism with what we know today. Not being able to join God is a horrible thing conjuring images of burning in hell forever. Existing without God in a world of evil is hell in its self. You have to know God and understand what It is and what happens. It's not a matter of being sent someplace. It's a matter of being able to join something. God set up the rules but It doesn't make a decision. It gave you thepower to choose. You make the decision based on a compilation of choices you make in your life and whether you remain true to those choices until the very last instant you function as a physical human being. Even if the thought of approaching death frightens you and leads you to repentance, as long as your choice is honest, you are forgiven. If you have been mostly a sinner, you have the power to change in a moment. You make the choice to be with God or not. God does not make it for you. There are no sinners with God. You choose.

Well....let's see.....God created humans with a free will. He wants us to choose to love Him and ask forgiveness for our sins while we are alive. He gave us His word (the Bible) and His plan of salvation (John3:16) so that we could understand how to choose the right eternity. Hindsight is 20/20. After we're dead and we're standing before God and looking at a real burning Hell or a glorious peaceful Heaven do you not think every single person standing there is going to suddenly be sorry for their sins and ask forgiveness? Of course they are! This is where FAITH comes in! Every single atheist on the planet is going to be on their knees begging forgiveness once God has "proven" Himself to them and they are standing there in front of Him. It's too late then. God already gave us our out here on earth (through the sacrifice of his son Jesus Christ) - if we don't accept it He honors that decision we made based on our free will when we stand before Him after death.

Well, religion keeps people in check. It keeps order. That's why there are so many of them. Maybe there is a religion that is right, but that means only 1 out of too many. All of them keep the people in line. The fear of being punished for eternity would scare any believer from doing wrong. If you knew you could be forgiven after death, well boom, go crazy while you're alive. But if you knew you wouldn't have a chance after death, then you better do good while alive.

Throughout every individuals life, God gives people opportunities, to either accept him or reject him. If you decide to reject God, and the people that he sends before you, then you obviously want no part of him. God never stops loving you, and he doesn't want to send anyone to hell. At the same time if you continue to turn your back on him he's not going to force you to be with him in heaven. So make up your mind while you live, either you love God and want to spend eternity with him, or you wanna do your own thing. If you see that a fire is hot, why jump in it, right!

God gives very person a life time of opportunity to ask for forgiveness and to accept His Son because he is a loving and merciful God. It only takes a very tiny amount of the blood of Jesus to cleanse ALL of humanity of sin but it is up to us to submit to the Lord. Have you asked God to forgive you and to cleanse you of all your sins??

I strongly suggest you do before it is too late...

He forgives those who are repentant....those who want to turn from their sin. If someone is openly sinning and has no remorse for doing so - why should God forgive?
