Yes, but make sure the rum is brown and add a 1/2 teaspoon of brown sugar.

Bourbon, when reduced, gives a beautiful brown, sweet glaze.

Oh, your recipe calls for brown sugar, disregard the 1/2 teaspoon!

Oh yes by all means! My hubby is a retired salmon fisherman, and he has always used rum rather than other alcohols.
With the butter and brown sugar you may be surprised at how wonderful it works!

Bon Apetite!

Enjoy!!!

ABSOLUTELY!!! Rum is made from cane, so when you cook it down, the flavors get concentrated & really sweet. Suggestion: add some chopped green onion on top for a little kick & presentation.

You can definitely substitute rum for bourbon in this recipe. It might actually taste better if you like rum better than bourbon.

It's gonna taste different because rum and bourbon taste different. I hope you like the flavor of bourbon.

Sure. Go for it.
They probably use nothing but Bourbon in Kentucky.
In the Caribbean they probably use nothing but Rum.
It's what makes you smile that counts/
