Fair's fair, and in the spirit of international cooperation and harmony, I suggest that we adopt Mexico's methods for dealing with illegal immigration:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13006798/site/newsweek/

"Mexico deals harshly not only with illegal immigrants. It treats even legal immigrants, naturalized citizens and foreign investors in ways that would, by the standards of those who carp about U.S. immigration policy, have to be called "racist" and "xenophobic.""

A few highlights:

"Foreigners may not in any way participate in the political affairs of the country."

"Equal employment rights are denied to immigrants, even legal ones."

"Foreigners, to say nothing of illegal immigrants, are denied fundamental property rights."

"The Mexican constitution states that foreigners - not just illegal immigrants - may be expelled for any reason and without due process."

"Mexico is one of the countries where illegal immigrants are highly vulnerable to human rights violations and become victims of degrading sexual exploitation and slavery-like practices, and are denied access to education and health care." -- UN Human Rights Commission

This is one of the BEST questions I have seen posted here in a while! I am with you, Simon! I wonder what would happen if an American would go to Mexico and wave an American flag, demand rights, and march in the streets? Our tolerance for lawbreakers has to end somewhere! I think illegals need to be rounded up and deported back to their own countries.

PC, they need to fight for a better government and stay in their own country! We struggled to make our country what it is. Why can't they? Our freedoms were bought and paid for in blood. The people in our country fought for their rights. Mexicans can do the same! What ever happened to "we the people?"

Johnny, my ancestors came here legally! They did not jump over the border and wave the flag of another country and demand rights given to that country's citizens!

I understand the sentiment, but I agree with backinbowl. We are not racist or xenophobic. We are against illegal immigration for security (after 9/11 we really should know who is entering our country) and economics (only tax paying citizens will be allowed to reap the benefits of our system). You are making a valid point.

I disagree that we should adopt Mexico's own standards. Maybe they are coming over here to ESCAPE their own degraded country?

From everything I've seen and read, unless you have money, Mexico is a horrible place to live. Most of the people who come here are the poor, who can't afford the protections that monied people there have.

That said, to Johnnybutt... back when your ancestors came to America, there weren't the restrictions on immigration back then as there are now. Coming to the U.S. without a proper visa wasn't a big deal back in the 1800's and early 1900's. If you click the link below, you will notice that the Immigration Act of 1924 is the law that changed things by introducing quotas and making it illegal to come here without proper documentation. So it IS different today then it was then. Back then, coming here wasn't illegal. Today it is. If you don't like the law, then you run for office and repeal the Immigration Act.

I agree. Mexico is a corrupt cesspool that needs cleaning out.... illegal aliens/slaves from Mexico are deserting their people and their country to live a life of crime in the USA....

STEALING from the citizens of the USA is not going to fix mexico's corruption... it will only perpetuate it....

I am not against a death penalty for 2nd offense illegal entry into the USA.... and I am for a 5 year prison term, no parole, along with a $250,000 fine for employers who hire illegal aliens.... these actions will do more to stop the criminal invasion of the USA than any fence will ever do...

Give illegal aliens here now six months to GET the HELL OUT or face death sentence when they are caught....

It is sad, the more the damn illegal aliens squawk, the harsher Americans want them punished and the sooner.... Congress needs to get off its lazy no good azz and get moving on this issue.... GET ILLEGAL ALIENS OUT and KEEP them OUT...

You made some excellent points. Totally aside from all the other points usually made. Bravo!!!!!!!!! My point, for good or bad, is that the USA is a life boat that is full and if we don't stop the influx, we'll all drown. Then, nobody survives.

I agree with you and I think the minutemen are trying to do that as harshly as possible. Why be racist, just be fair!

Sounds good to me!

If we went to Mexico and tried to pull what they're doing now - we'd be killed.

These illegals have it good and they know it.
